India is the most researched equity market!

Interesting data from the Morgan Stanley fund (remember, it is still there!) newsletter.

The newsletter says that India is the most over-researched market in the world. Check this:

There are only 51 stocks in the world that are rated by more than 50 sell-side research analysts. Of these 49 are in India. The only two stocks outside India are Apple and Intel.

This could mean chances of scoring alpha are less in India now, assuming research has a correlation with actual investor decisions. And of course, there’s insider trading, the best route for generating alpha for large investors. We certainly dont do anything about that in India, do we?
